Friend in Needs Navigation (FINN)
Develop, implement, and review intervention plans for students with additional needs (SwANs)
Why it’s here
Develop, implement, and review intervention plans for students with additional needs (SwANs) 1 Multiple Uses of FINN: Both Education Officers and Allied Educators use FINN to develop the ecological framework, identifying protective factors and barriers, and prioritizing areas of need for intervention planning. This empowers Education Officers to implement strategies within the main class setting and allows Allied Educators to focus on personalized and intensive support. 2 Enhanced Collaboration: FINN enables better use of the time and expertise of Allied Educators by involving teachers more deeply in information gathering from various stakeholders and supporting them in triangulating the information. This facilitates more effective case management and targeted interventions. 3 EvidenceBased Strategy Recommendations: FINN recommends evidencebased strategies and provides a stepbystep guide on implementation, enhancing the autonomy and efficiency of both Education Officers and Allied Educators. 4 Curriculum Integration: FINN supports the development of lesson plans and activities aligned with the SelfManagement Skills (SMS) curriculum in TRANSIT, LSP 2.0, SDR 2.0, and RRP 2.0, facilitating differentiated learning for diverse learner profiles. 5 Proven Effectiveness: FINN has been tested by staff involved in LSP 2.0, SDR 2.0, TRANSIT, and RRP 2.0 at Cantonment Primary School, demonstrating its ability to enhance support for SwANs. By adopting FINN, schools can optimize the support provided to students with additional needs, ensuring timely, datadriven, and effective interventions that promote better educational outcomes.
